The Gegenschein in the springtime evening sky from the northern hemisphere, from New Mexico, March 2013. It is the glow left of centre in southern Leo, and is sunlight reflected off comet and meteoric dust in the inner solar system but outside Earth's orbit. This is a stack of 5 x 5 minute tracked exposures with the Samyang 14mm lens at f/2.8 and Canon 5D MkII at ISO 800. trails from flaring geostationary satellites are below the Gegenschein, near the opposition point.
The winter Milky Way and Zodiacal Light in a 180° panorama taken at the Painted Pony Resort in southwestern New Mexico, March 11, 2013. The panorama is a composite of 4 segments, each a two layer stack, and each exposure 3 minutes at f/2.8 with the 14mm Samyang lens and Canon 5D MkII at ISO 1600, and each exposure tracked on the iOptron SkyTracker. The ground is from one exposure per segment. Jupiter is the bright object near the centre.
