Comet PANSTARRS C/2011 L4 in bright moonlight and lingering twilight low in NW sky on March 23, 2013. This is a stack of 4 x 30 second exposures with the Canon 200mm lens at f/2.8 and Canon 60Da at ISO 800, on the Kenko SkyMemo tracking platform.
Comet PANSTARRS (C/2011 L4) over the VLA radio telescope array in New Mexico, March 17, 2013. The landscape is lit by the nearly quarter Moon high in the sky out of frame. This is a composite of two images taken moments apart: a 50-second untracked exposure for the ground and a 25-second tracked exposure for the sky, so both sky and ground are sharp. All at f/2.8 with the 50mm Sigma lens on the Canon 60Da at ISO 400. Position worked out with Photographers Ephemeris.
Comet PANSTARRS C/2011 L4 and the Earthlit waxing Moon, March 13, 2013, over the Chiricahua Mountains, in Arizona, but seen from New Mexico, from the Painted Pony Resort. A 6s exposure at f/2.5 and ISO 200 with the Canon 60Da and 50mm Sigma lens.
