A selfie of me using binoculars and Gary Seronik’s Binocular Highlights guidebook to find targets in the night sky. Intended for a book illustration. Taken under the light of a full Moon with Orion and Sirius to the south. This is a single shot with the Nikon D750 at ISO 800 and 20mm Sigma lens at f/5.6 and focused for the stars.
A selfie of me testing the Celestron StarSense 80mm LT refractor. The entry-level telescope uses an app on a phone mounted in a special bracket with a reflex mirror to shoot the sky and figure out where it is pointed by measuring the positions of the stars it sees with the phone camera. Pretty amazing technology. And it was working fine this winter night despite the clouds and moonlight. This is a single shot with the Nikon D750 and 20mm Sigma lens at f/4 and focused for the foreground.
