The Big Dipper pointing to Arcturus at left, as seen from Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, Alberta at the Graburn Overlook. This is a single 30 second exposure at ISO 2500 with the Canon 6D and 24mm lens at f/2.2.
The old barn near home in southern Alberta at sunset, June 11, 2014, with the Moon one day before full rising in the southeast. The blue shadow of the Earth and pink Belt of Venus are visible below the Moon on the horizon. This was shot as part of a time-lapse dolly sequence using the Canon 60Da and 10-22mm lens.
An all-sky aurora with green and purple curtains, the night of June 7-8, 2014, starting up about 12:30 and going until dawn. This shot was near its peak, from the old barn site near home in southern Alberta. The purple colour is partly from blue scatttered sunlight hitting the red tops of the auroral curtains. The Big Dipper is above the Barn. This was with the 10-22mm lens at f/4 for 15 seconds at ISO 3200 with the Canon 60Da. It includes me at the tripod and camera that was taking other shots at the same time.
