This is the open cluster NGC 6124 in Scorpius, a beautiful object and field for binoculars. This field is about 10° by 6° wide, so approximating the field of typical binoculars. Note the many dark lanes of dusty nebulosity that winds through this field. This is a stack of 6 x 2 minute exposures at f/2.8 and ISO 1250 with the 135mm Canon telephoto lens on the Canon 7D, and was taken May 1, 2011 from Atacama Lodge in central Chile.
NGC 6188 area in Ara, taken with 77mm Borg astrographic refractor at f/4.3 and Hutech-modified Canon 5D camera, for stack of 5 x 8 minute exposures at ISO 400, taken April 18, 2007 from Coonabarabran, NSW, Australia. Doublelobed planetary nebula NGC 6164-5 at upper right, and clusters NGC 6167 at lower centre and NGC 6134 at lower right.
The magenta nebulosity known as NGC 6193 in the constellation of Ara in the southern sky, with the open cluster NGC 6188. At right are the open clusters NGC 6167 and NGC 6134. At upper left is the cluster NGC 6200. The small bi-polar planetary nebula is NGC 6164/65. This is a stack of 5 x 8 minute exposures with the Borg 77mm astrographic apo (330mm focal length) at f/4.3 and the filter-modified Canon 5D Mark II at ISO 800. I took this March 31/April 1 from Coonabarabran, NSW, Australia.
