Scutum is just rising above the gum trees. This is stack of 4 x 4 minute exposures at f/2.8 with the 15mm full-frame fish eye lens and Canon 60Da at ISO 800. The ground is mostly from one layer. The stars are softened slightly with a gaussian blur layer.

Gamma Velorum (aka Suhail al Muhlif) in Vela and the open cluster NGC 2547, a bright binocular cluster. The field is also rich in faint nebulosity from the Gum Nebula. The field simulates a binocular field. A stack of 4 x 2-minute exposures with the 20mm telephoto at f/2.8 and Canon 5D MkII at ISO 2500. Tracked on the AP 400 mount.
