NGC 1579, the Northern Trifid Nebula, in Perseus, an emission nebula near the Californoia Nebula and embedded in the dark clouds that permeate this area of the northern autumn and winter sky. This is a stack of 5 x 8-minute exposures with the Quattro 20cm astrographic Newtonian reflector at f/4 with its coma corrector and Canon 5D MkII at ISO 800.
