The Sagittarius Starcloud toward the Galactic Centre, with the Lagoon and Trifid Nebulas at top. The field of view simulates a binocular field, though the long exposure brings out far more than the eye can see. The small dark nebula at centre is B86 next to the small star cluster NGC 6520. The nebulas at top are M8 and M20. This is a stack of 5 x 2-minute exposures with the 200mm lens at f/2.8 and filter-modified Canon 5D MkII at ISO 1600. Tracked on the AP 400 mount, unguided. From Tibuc Gardens Cottage.
All of Scorpius, plus parts of Lupus and Ara regions of the southern Milky Way. This area was directly overhead when I took this at about 4:30 am local time on April 6, 2014 from near Coonabarabran, Australia. The head of Scorpius is at top his tail at bottom though you could turn this image any direction and it would be correct as seen in the sky at this latitude, depending on the time of night. But in portrait mode like this north is at top. Along the Milky Way are numerous nebulas, including the False Comet area, the Cat's Paw area, and the colourful nebulas around Antares at top. The dark Pipe Nebula is at left of frame. This is a stack of 4 x 6 minute exposures at f/2.8 with the Sigma 50mm lens on the filter-modiifed Canon 5D Mark II at ISO 800. An additional exposure with the Kenko Softon filter was layered in to add the star glows.
Scorpius rising in the east over gum trees at Tibuc Gardens Cottage, with the constellation coming up on its side at this latitude of 32° South. Antares and the head of Scorpius is are left of centre, the tail of Scorpius is at right coming up amid the trees. This is a stack of 9 x 30- to 20-second exposures for the ground and one 20-second exposure for the sky, all at f/2 with the 35mm lens and Canon 6D at ISO 3200. Taken just before moonrise on April 17, 2017.
