Rosette Nebula in Monoceros, NGC 2237 et al. Taken with 5-inch f/6 apo with field flattener and Canon 5D camera, Hutech modified, for stack of 4 x 14 minute exposures at ISO400.
Rosette Nebula in Monoceros. Stack of two 15-minute exposures at f6 with 5-inch apo refractor (no field flattener) and Canon 20Da camera. ISO 400, with in-camera noise reduction and temperature about 0 C. Some light haze. Taken January 4, 2006. Two other exposures taken in the series were hazed out completely as cloud moved through. Image cropped slightly due to re-polar alignment between shots to cut down dec drift which caused misregistration of frames. Levels and Broad USM applied to L layer after converting to Lab mode to darken dark fingers of dust.
The Cone Nebula and the Christmas Tree star cluster NGC 2264 in Monoceros. Hubble's Variable Nebula NGC 2261 is also in the field at bottom centre, as a V-shaped naebula. The yellow star cluster at right is Trumpler 5. This is a stack of 5 x 13 minute exposures at ISO 800 with the filter-modified Canon 5D MkII and Astro-Physics 105mm Traveler apo refractor at f/5.8 with the 6x7 field flattener. Taken from Timor Cottage, Coonabarabran, Australia, Deceember 17/18, 2012. North is up.
