The summer Milky Way over the Log Cabin at the Reesor Ranch, July 16, 2013. This is a stack of 5 x 4 minute tracked exposures for the sky + one 4 minute untracked exposure for the ground. Each at f/2.8 with the 15mm lens and Canon 5D MkII at ISO 1600.
The northern summer stars and Milky Way setting in the southwest over the Badlands of Dinosaur Provincial Park in Alberta. There was copious green airglow this night, plus the image is looking back toward Brooks and its light pollution glow. Sagittarius is just above the horizon. This is a composite of 5 x 3 minute exposures, tracked on the Star Adventurer for the sky, plus 4 x 3-minute exposures, untracked, for the ground. All with the 24mm lens at f/2.8 and Canon 5D MkII at ISO 1600.
The faint constellation of Monoceros, the unicorn. east of Orion and embedded in the Milky Way. The Unicorn is flanked by Canis Minor and the bright star Procyon (at left) and Canis Major and the star Sirius (at bottom).The southern section of Orion is at upper right. The red nebula at top is the Rosette Nebula. This is a stack of 3 x 2-minute exposures with the 50mm Sigma lens at f/2.5 and Canon 5D MkII at ISO 1600, plus an additional exposure through the Kenko Softon filter layered in to add the star glows.
