The northern winter Milky Way, from Perseus (at right) to Puppis (at left) with Orion and Taurus at centre. Jupiter is just right of centre above the Pleiades. This is a stack of 5 x 6 minute exposures at f/2.8 with the Samyanf 14mm lens and Canon 5D MkII at ISO 800. Taken from the Painted Pony Resort in southwest New Mexico, March 2013.
A wide view of the winter sky and constellations around Orion, from my backyard, March 1, 2013, on a nice clear and mild night. Jupiter is above Aldebaran at right. This was a test shot with the Samyang 14mm ultra-wide lens, at f/2.8, with the Canon 5D MkII. A stack of 5 x 5 minute exposures at ISO 800, with the landscape from two exposures. EXIF data says 50mm lens but the Samyang is manual only and does not send focal length and aperture info to the camera. Taken from southern Alberta, Canada.
