A 4-segment mosaic of the southern Milky Way from Orion (right) to Vela (left) taking in Carina and Crux (centre). Part of a larger 10-segment mosaic of the entire southern Milky Way shot in March 2010 from the Atacama Lodge, near San Pedro do Atacama in Chile. Each segment is a stack of 4 x 6 minute exposures at f/4 with a Canon L-series 35mm lens and modified Canon 5D MkII camera at ISO 800, plus an additional 6-minute exposure with the Kenko Softon filter layered in to add star glows. Orion and Sirius and Procyon. Taken Feb. 11, 2010, with Canon 5DMkII and Canon 35mm L-series lens at f/4 for stack of 4 x 4.5 minutes at ISO 800, Median combined, plus stack of 4 x 4 minutes with Kenko Softon filter for fuzzy stars.
