The waxing 5-day-old crescent Moon above Jupiter in the darkening twilight at Reesor Lake in the Cypress Hills of southeastern Alberta in the Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. Spica is the star at far left. This was July 28, 2017. The Sun has set at right at the end of the lake. Some pelicans swim in the reflected glow of twilight — very nice of them to pose! This is a single exposure with the 20mm Sigma Art lens and Nikon D750. Shot from the east end of the lake near the dam and causeway.
The waxing 5-day-old Moon above Jupiter in the southwest in the deepening twilight with subtle crepuscular rays diverging away from the sunset point in the northwest. The rays are shadows from distant clouds and thunderstorms to the west and north this night. The location is Reesor Lake in Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park on the Alberta side. This is a single frame from a 700-frame “holy grail” sunset-to-stars time-lapse sequence.
