The summer Milky Way in moonlight from a setting waxing Moon off frame at right and with deep twilight still lighting the sky, at the Battle Scene viewpoint at Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, in southern Alberta. Sagittarius and the galactic centre is on the horizon at centre. Saturn is at far right. On the horizon are the Sweetgrass Hills in Montana. The Milk River winds below amid the sandstone formations that are home to historic First Nations petroglyphs. Clouds and forest fire smoke obscure the sky at low altitudes. This is a single 30-second exposure with the Nikon D750 at ISO 3200 and Sigma 24mm Art lens at f/2, taken as part of a time-lapse sequence.
