The waxing quarter Moon in the evening sky at sunset, at the historic Swing Bridge near Sale, Victoria, Australia, on the Latrobe River. The Bridge was completed in 1883 and turns on a central pivot to let boats through up river to the Sale Harbour. The Bridge last opened in 1972 as it aged and became unsafe. The Bridge was refurbished in 2006 but remains closed and not open to traffic but is now at least safe for visitors as an hsitoric site. The Sun has set at left in the west, and the Moon is 90° away to the right, in the north. This is a 9-section panorama with the 35mm lens inn portrait mode. The original is 25,000 x 5700 pixels.
A 270° panorama of the setting Sun and waxing gibbous Moon over Western Port bay at Cowes on Philip Island near Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The Sun is setting slightly north of due west, while the 9-day-old Moon sits in the northeast, at an angle of about 110° away from the Sun. This is a stitch of 15 panels taken with the 35mm lens oriented portait, and the Canon 6D camera. Stitched with PTGui with a lot of manual point registration required due to the lack of land area over many segments to align to.
This is a panorama of the evening sky on March 25, 2020, with brilliant Venus high in the west at centre just after the date (March 24) of its greatest elongation in the evening sky for 2020. It appears here about as high as it can get with the ecliptic tipped up to a high angle in spring. To the left is Orion and the winter stars in the twilight, including Sirius at far left. Just above the horizon right of centre in the bright twilight is the day-old thin crescent Moon about to set. Above Venus are the Pleiades and Hyades star clusters. This is a panorama of 5 segments with the Nikon D750 and 24mm Sigma lens, stitched with PTGui. Each segment was 8 seconds at ISO 400 and f/2.8.
