This is the total eclipse of the Moon, December 10, 2011, taken from the grounds of the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory, near Priddis Alberta, and looking west to the Rockies. This is a 1/10th second exposure at ISO 100 with the Canon 5DMkII and Sigma 50mm lens at f/7.1. This was taken just before moonset with the Moon in final partial eclipse. Note the dark sky shadows (crepuscular rays) converging on the position of the Moon opposite the Sun about to rise behind the camera.

This is a 7-image High Dynamic Range stack of exposures taken at 2/3rd f-stop intervals, using the Canon 7D at ISO 100 and 10-22mm lens at 14mm and f/5.6.
