A panorama of the bright and extensive noctilucent clouds across the north on July 2, 2020 as shot from home in southern Alberta. Capella and the stars of Perseus are right of centre. This is a panorama of 10 segments shot with the 85mm Rokinon lens on the Canon 6D MkII camera at ISO 100 for 4 seconds each, and taken at 10° spacings which made it possible for Adobe Camera Raw to stitch the segments. The original is almost 30,000 pixels wide.
A display of the bright and extensive noctilucent clouds across the north on July 2, 2020 as shot from home in southern Alberta. Capella is at right. This is a small panorama of 3 segments shot with the 85mm Rokinon lens on the Canon 6D MkII camera at ISO 100 for 1.3 seconds each. Stitched in Adobe Camera Raw.
A superb or “grand” display of noctilucent clouds on June 7-8, 2020 with the NLCs very bright to the northwest and north early in the evening extending up at least 20° in altitude. However by the time I took this panorama at about 11:45pm MDT the display had diminished. The Sun was 12° below the horizon when I shot this. The location is what I call Solstice Pond near home where I often shoot auroras and NLCs, especially around summer solstice. The clouds showed a tremendous amount of fine structure and wave patterns. Capella, usually present in NLC images, is right of centre at top. This is a panorama of 10 segments, each with the 85mm Rokinon lens at f/2 and the Canon 6D MkII at ISO 200 and oriented horizontally for 1.6 seconds each. The size of the original panorama is 22,000 x 4200 pixels. Stitched with ACR.
