The northern summer Milky Way rising into the east. Taken from the Painted Pony Resort, New Mexico, March 10, 2013. This is a stack of 10 x 5 minute tracked exposures with the Samyang 14mm lens at f/2.8 and Canon 5D MkII at ISO 800. Used iOptron SkyTracker. Ground is from two exposures.
M36, the Pinwheel Cluster, left, and M38, the Starfish Cluster, right, in Auriga, surrounded by a wealth of nebulosity, including NGC 1931 at bottom centre, and IC 417 right of centre. IC 410 is in the lower right corner. This is a stack of 6 x 6 minute exposures with the TMB 92mm apo at f/4.8 with Borg 0.85x Reducer/Flattener and modified Canon 6D at ISO 800. A hazy night but not bad overhead where this field was.
The Belt of Orion, enmeshed in nebulosity, emission and reflection, including the famous Horsehead Nebula at left below Zeta Orionis, aka Alnitak, and with NGC 2024 the Flame Nebula above Zeta. Numerous bits of dark and reflection nebulosity fill the area as well as a large cluster of blue stars, Collinder 70.
